Famous peacock edition with the elaborate gilt design on the front board and spine. Measuring approximately 7.25" x 5", with 476 numbered pages.

The book is in good condition. Moderate creasing and tearing to the spine ends and corners. Gilt lettering and design on the spine and front board moderately faded. Book is cocked causing an overbite to the textblock. Minor scattered foxing to the interior pages. Two previous ownership names in pencil on the front endpaper.

A novel of manners, it follows the character development of Elizabeth Bennet, the protagonist of the book, who learns about the repercussions of hasty judgments and comes to appreciate the difference between superficial goodness and actual goodness.
