First edition, first printing - with the "First Edition" statement and also with the number line down to the number 2 on the copyright page - as called for with the publisher Random House. This book measures approximately 10" x 8", with 365 numbered pages. Signed and inscribed by the author Carl Sagan at the bottom of the front endpaper: "To J. Mollick - Carl Sagan". Loosely laid in the book is an event notice with Carl Sagan as the June 1985 speaker for the International Affairs Institute - most likely where this copy was inscribed.
This book is in very good plus condition. Original cloth boards have minor edgewear and are very well preserved. Minor foxing to the edges of the textblock. Carl Sagan newspaper ephemera loosely laid at the rear of the book, where there is some associated offsetting to the endsheets. The original dust jacket is in very good plus condition. Minor wear at the corners and spine ends. Original $19.95 price is present on the front flap.
