"The Wreck of the Titan" is a fictional story of a large sailing vessel that hits an iceberg and capsizes in the Atlantic Ocean - chillingly parallel to the actual event of the Titanic's sinking 14 years later. There are many eerie similarities between the Titan and the RMS Titanic. They share a common name, the Titan was said to be "practically unsinkable" (the Titanic deemed "unsinkable"), the Titan was the largest ship built by man at 800 feet long (the Titanic was 882 ft), both ships carried less than half the number of required lifeboats for their passengers, and both struck an iceberg on an April's night, 400 nautical miles from Newfoundland. The coincidences of this story are uncanny, making this a fascinating read.

On 18 June 2023, Titan, a submersible operated by American tourism and expedition company OceanGate, imploded during an expedition to view the wreck of the Titanic in the North Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada.
