Married to an original later printing dust jacket, likely printed in 1938-1939. Measuring approximately 8.5" x 5.75", with 1037 numbered pages.
This book is in good plus to very good minus condition. Moderate surface wear and staining to the original gray cloth boards. Small tear to the cloth at the bottom of the rear spine gutter. Previous ownership names and crossed out name in pen on the front endsheets as photographed. The dust jacket is in good plus condition. Moderate to heavy wear and creasing at the extremities. Creasing and tearing visible at the bottom of the rear panel. The front flap shows some ink staining and is unpriced.
Margaret Mitchell's "Gone with the Wind" is a romance novel set in Georgia during the American Civil War and the Reconstruction era that followed. The novel centers on its protagonist, Scarlett O'Hara, and her struggle to rebuild and sustain her wealth, which had been lost as a result of the fall of the Confederacy. Using any means necessary, Scarlett regains what she has lost, in large part due to Rhett Butler, a scoundrel and scallawag with a bad reputation. The trials and tribulations of Scarlett and her unwavering perseverance make this novel an American classic. Winning a Pulitzer Prize in 1937, "Gone with the Wind" went on to become an Academy Award-winning film in 1939.
