This book is in very good plus condition. Gilt cover design is still bright and well preserved. Minor wear and staining to the boards and edges of the textblock. Christmas gift inscription in pencil from 1900 on the front endpaper. Interior pages and clean and the binding is sound.
The text is a reflection upon the author's simple living in natural surroundings. The work is part personal declaration of independence, social experiment, voyage of spiritual discovery, satire, and—to some degree—a manual for self-reliance.
