The following first issue points are present: Title page dated 1873; Genuine title page with the illustrator “White” listed; Copyright notice in the name of The American Publishing Company; On page vii the use of name “Eschol” Sellers under the heading for Chapter V; Additionally “Eschol” appears at the running head page 27, page 247 line 7 from the bottom of the page, page 355 line 1 and also line 5 from the bottom; On page xvi final illustration is numbered 211; page 246 line 5 from the bottom the word “Hallelujah” has no
comma following it; page 280, line 18 there is a period after “Dr. Jackson.”; 352 last two lines read: "let him keep it. She looked down into his face with a pitia- /bletenderness and said in a weak voice"; On page 403 no illustration present. Ad at rear for “Everybody's Friend” reads "truex inde" (BAL 3357).
The book is in fair condition. Ex-library copy with an embossed seal on the title page, and call card at the rear. This book has been recased with the original spine laid down. The book is in readable condition and can be easily handled without any concern. Boards are well worn with the boards worn through at the edges.
