London: Trubner and Co., 1867. Signed, ex-library. Six volumes. Each volume measuring approximately 9" x 6". The first two volumes are inscribed to General Sir Harold Rawdon Briggs a senior British Army officer by the author's wife Lady Elliot.

These volumes are in good condition. Moderate shelf wear to the boards. Gilt lettering and design on spines still bright and well preserved. Library markings on the spines and front pastedowns. Hinges are cracked. Otherwise the interior pages are clean.

The History of India, is a collection comprising translations of medieval Persian chronicles based on the work of Henry Miers Elliot. The translations were in part overseen by Elliot, whose efforts were then extended and edited posthumously by John Dowson.
