This book is in fair condition. Moderate chipping to both ends of spine. Moderate bumping to all corners of boards. Moderate staining to both boards. Front board and spine detached from textblock. Rear hinge is cracked exposing mesh. Previous owner's handwriting on title page above authors name that states "and interesting story". Interior pages are clean.
Tess of the d'Urbervilles received mixed reviews when it first appeared, in part because it challenged the sexual morals of late Victorian England. Tess was portrayed as a fighter for her rights and for the rights of others.
