This book is in very good condition. Moderate bumping to both ends of spine. Minor sunning to spine. Gilt lettering on spine faded but still full. Gilt lettering on front board full and vivid. Front hinge is cracked exposing mesh at half title page. Moderate foxing to both front and rear pastedowns and endpaper. Interior pages are bright and clean.

The Fruit of the Tree is one of Edith Wharton's few novels to deal directly with issues such as euthanasia, the problems of labor and industrial conditions, and professions for women, as well as Wharton's more customary themes such as divorce.
