This book is in very good condition. Moderate bumping to both ends of spine. Gilt lettering and design on spine and front board still full and vivid. Minor foxing to bottom and foredge of texblock. Previous owner's signature on front endpaper. Dust jacket is in good condition. Moderate chipping to both ends of spine. Moderate scuffing on spine and both panels. Two small closed tears on rear panel. Price clipped. Moderate foxing to inside of jacket.

In the early 20th century, an 11-year-old boy named Lucius Priest (a distant cousin of the McCaslin/Edmonds family Faulkner wrote about in Go Down, Moses) somewhat unwittingly gets embroiled in a plot to go to Memphis with dimwitted family friend and manservant Boon Hogganbeck.
