New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1946. These volumes come in their original slipcase and measure approximately 8" x 5.5" with 271, 624, 1043 numbered pages respectively.

These volumes are in good minus condition. Moderate bumping and scuffing to spine. Moderate staining and scuffing to all boards. Moderate staining to all edges of textblocks. Previous owner's signature in ink on all front endpapers of each volume. Minor staining and foxing to interior pages. Slip case is in fair condition. Heavy chipping and scuffing to all edges. Tape supporting some edges are still present.

The cycle follows the life of Kristin Lavransdatter, a fictitious Norwegian woman living in the 14th century. Kristin grows up in Sel in the Gudbrand Valley, the daughter of a well-respected and affluent farmer. She experiences a number of conflicts in her relationships with her parents, and her husband, in medieval Norway.
