First Edition, First Printing, First State with the half-title printed on the recto of the frontispiece, the S-like ornament present at the caption on page 59 between THE KING, and with no broken type on page 72. Quite rare, one of very few known examples to contain all three first issue points (BAL 3429). A good copy in the publisher's original green cloth, with black stamped decorations and gilt pictorial vignettes. Both hinges cracked, but holding strong. Remnants of removed bookplate on the front pastedown. Moderate wear and staining to the cloth boards. Cloth worn through to the cardboard underneath at the corners and at the top and bottom of the spine. Please view the many other rare titles available for purchase at our store.
