Shelf wear to the spine leading to chipping and tearing of the cloth, and bumping/scuffing of the corners. The gilt lettering on the spine is bright and clean. The binding is cracked at the front hinge. Several of the endpapers and page xi of the introduction are loose. Tape repair to the rear hinge and writing on the rear pastedown. The text block is toned but bright, clean, and complete. The fold-out maps int he back have some tape repair. This fascinating history of the Civil War, complete with maps, will make a fine addition to any student of history's bookshelf.
