The front board is barely attached to the rest of the book. Shelf wear to the spine (including some cloth loss) and bumping and scuffing to the corners. The leather on the spine is cracked, but the gilt lettering and decorations, while somewhat faded and obscured, are still clearly legible. Some scuffing, staining, and discoloration to the boards. Various inscriptions, stamps, and bookplates included on the front and rear endpapers and pastedowns, dating from 1844 to 1946. The front endpaper and pastedown are held together at the hinge by tape. Toning front the leather on the endpapers and pastedowns.
