Signed and inscribed by esteemed Hematologist Dr. Philip Levine to Dr. Elias Cohen of the Roswell Park Memorial Institute, now the Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, New York. Published by the New York Academy of Sciences, New York, 1965. Softcovers, measures 6" x 9", 937 pages. Illustrated throughout with numerous charts, graphs and drawings. The book is in near fine condition. The softcovers are extremely well preserved with firm edges. The contents are clean, bright, unmarked, and complete. The binding is sound. Dr. Philip Levine was a Hematologist and was the first to identify the RH hemolytic disease in 1939. This led to the creation of Dr. Alexander Wiener's procedure called an Exchange Transfusion in 1946. At the time, the procedure was able to save over 200,000 lives. An intramuscular injection of anti-RHD immunoglobulin was created in 1964 and is still in use today, saving the lives of over 20,000 babies each year in the USA alone.
